Guidelines and Career Pathways Operational Elements
Funded by the Joyce Foundation Shifting Gears effort, the project has continued to develop through 2007 which turned out to be a year of learning. 2008 will be a year of doing and we are kicking that off by sharing the 99% final RISE Guidelines and Career Pathways Operational Elements. As you plan for related efforts and as opportunities roll-out in 2008 to become more involved with RISE efforts and adult career pathways in general, we wanted to define the Wisconsin model.
Two additional comments:
- A reminder that the Joyce Foundation Shifting Gears initiative, and therefore the RISE project, are focused on low-skilled working adults. The term career pathways is also used in programs of study or career clusters work by K-16 partners. While over the long-term, RISE career pathways would apply to all ages, for now it RISE is focused on out-of-school adults rather than school-to-work or school-to-postsecondary transitions.
- The name RISE purposely includes regional, industry, and skills in addition to education and the vision and mission as well as the elements include a strong focus on industry sectors that add value to the region. Strong engagement and partnerships between business, labor, workforce and economic development, and education are the foundation of the RISE approach to career pathways.
